Ep 23: For When Everything Hurts (AKA Managing Stress & Pain)
Ever wake up and feel like you’ve aged 20 years overnight?
Your back feels tight. Your knees are…I don’t know, different? Not painful but you’re just, like, very aware of your knees all of a sudden. The bottoms of your feet cramp at the slightest adjustment and sometimes you wake up with a limp. Oh, and your neck and shoulders—forget it.
In those moments where my body feels SORE and STIFF, I’m like, I guess this is my life now? But I don’t want it to be. And stressing about my body being stressed only makes it worse.
What do we do?
We ask an expert. Someone who knows how the body works (AKA not me).
This week’s episode—with physical therapist, yoga studio owner and my friend, Jackie Fenton—talks about how to manage some of that pain, but more than that: We talk about how our minds play into how we experience stress and pain, how we can think about our body’s pain and tension differently, and how we can trust them a little more.
